Songwriter
Sue Carey Releases “Johnny Marine,”
A
Stirring, Patriotic Anthem
To
Benefit The Families of Lost Soldiers
New
York, April 28, 2003 - As Operation Iraqi Freedom comes to a close,
servicemen and women will march home to the beat of “Johnny Marine,”
an electrifying CD single recorded by John James and The New York
Freedom Chorale.
Written
by Chicago philanthropist Sue Carey, founder of the Homeless and
Abused Children's Charity of Chicago and a dedicated mother of 11,
"Johnny Marine" evokes a universal, non-partisan spirit
of support as it prays for and heralds the safe return of the courageous
men and women in the Armed Forces. "I wrote this song for my
son, who served in the Marines in the Persian Gulf during Operation
Desert Storm, " says Carey. "Although I never released
it back then, the process of writing it and the finished product
were very healing for me and my family. I realize now that the sentiments
are timeless, and I hope to share this sense of serenity with other
families who may be fearful, while also raising money for the families
who have suffered losses."
Co-written,
produced and orchestrated by Peter Link, a two-time Tony nominee
and highly praised Broadway composer, Johnny Marine is a victorous
musical testament in the classic tradition of "Grand Old Flag,"
with a modern sensibility resounding throughout its boldly orchestral
design.
Proceeds
from the sale of the "Johnny Marine" CDs will be delivered
personally to the families of lost servicemen and women who have
been killed in the line duty.
